I work in renewable’s. I was super excited when I started. I’m a journeyman and live in a O&G stronghold that hates the idea of people being green. When I started my boss said are you willing to take a pay cut at the beginning but within 2 years you should be exactly where you are now as demand is getting higher every year. Well it’s been 3 years and with inflation I’m now behind 10% where I was before. Not to mention all the stress I have on my plate running jobs and making tight deadlines being the only worker in the field. I’ve joined the union that’s screaming for workers. I’ll start in 2 weeks making 21% more then I am now and I’ll have way less responsibility. I’m nervous cause change scares me but my family will benefit from this. Guess my boss won’t be able to take his quarterly 2 week vacation this spring.
