I’ve worked with my boss for 8 years. We work on a large installation and there’s plenty of work internally. With all this work you see plenty of people burnt out. The other day we talked about how employees won’t do the bare minimum. I told him that work has broke some of us. He’s a “bust your ass, grind until you die” man, and that’s okay but not for me.
I keep my motivation and I keep my “good work ethic” for him and only him. I told him to stop commending me after I started our new operation. I don’t want anyone knowing I care about the quality or passion of my work. I don’t wanna be known as “Let’s get J on the project, he can do this right”. Eight years with this job broke me. I’ll never show another employer who I really am.
