I’m a remote worker being targeted by upper management. How can I protect myself?

Going to try to keep this as short as possible. My company has a history of finding reasons to let go of employees that work remotely. Sure, it is no longer company policy that workers cannot work remotely, but due to the culture, upper managers will look for reasons why certain remote employees are not “working out” and I fear I am next in line. My question is, how can I ensure ahead of time that they cannot fire me without paying me out unemployment? I figure there’s more I can do now before they fire me then there is after, but who can I even talk to about it? Are there some kind of attorneys that will help? Or at the very least, any kind of free resources? I can answer more specific questions if you think it can point me in the right direction but I really don’t…
