I’m all for unions and fair treatment but does anyone work with someone who is so protected by the union that they simply do whatever they want?

This is my first job that is Union. I like my position and the benefits are great. But I notice a few coworkers that just don’t pull their fair share. They milk the clock and just play on their phones. They find every excuse to leave the workstation. They leave their work for others to follow up, frequent call outs, leaving in the middle of a shift (insert excuse). I see my mgr struggle with these people everyday, I see her working 12-16 hrs covering for her workers. She even bought (out of her own pocket) adjustable monitor stand because a worker has back issues. It’s not often you get a good mgr but she is plagued by shitty workers. I’m all for unions protecting workers from mistreatment, but these people are leeches milking the union.
