I’m changing jobs because of this

I’m employed in maintenance at a factory. I separated from the military almost a year ago. February 2022 I got hired on in maintenance due to my background. I worked in a steam plant operations and maintenance, and learned a lot, to include basic electrical theory and troubleshooting. I hired in to a position where i would be responsible for electrical work as well as mechanical. Fast forward to the summer. We get a new guy hired in at the labor grade i got hired in. He kept the labor grade after probation. I like this guy honestly, he has a great outlook, and is easy to get along with. Here’s the thing. He absolutely is way more inexperienced than me. Needs help and coaching with a lot of things, including electrical. I end up helping him with electrical sometimes, but usually tell him I’m not qualified to make decisions for him. Everyone else on the shift seems to agree he is in over his head, although everyone likes him.
I just accepted an offer making an extra $14 an hour, and honestly can’t wait to start my new job. I haven’t decided if i want to give a notice to my boss or not.
