My boss (office manager) is very stingy, we wash sponges before we buy new ones.
Our current wage is $15, Id like to ask to raise it to $18 as the average rent in our (tourist) town is at least $1600
My current argument goes a little like:
-we have more responsibilites now such as xyz
-60% of jobs in the area pay more than $17.50
-here are similar jobs to us paying $18+
-$18 would at least make about double rent every month
I want to lean heavily into the “our workers deserve to be able to live here and deserve a living wage” but I know it comes down to dollars and cents so..
(I will not be leaving this job, even to go to a higher paying one. The location and schedule are unbeatable for me but I know we all deserve more)
