I just found out that I am pregnant about a week ago, and as soon as I found out I set up and doc appointment, the earliest I could get was the 11th of next month. (I’m about 5 weeks) and I let my bosses know about my situation. Just a little context I am very subject to miscarriage and the first trimester is a vital stage in pregnancy. Anyways I told them that every now and then that I’m needing to sit down to avoid any stress to my uterus from standing for almost 10 hours straight. I also stack and pull pallets with product that between 15-50 pounds each basket and the pallets weigh about 750- 1000 pounds and lifting puts more stress on it. So my team lead tells me that he’s sending in an email about my situation and giving me accommodations for it, a couple hours passes by and my head boss is in now, he reads the email and tells me congratulations but you can’t be sitting down, it would make other people jealous that I’m allowed to sit without a doctors note when my other co workers can’t. And I tell him that I only sit when I feel the need to sit, I’m doing my best to listen to my body so I can have a healthy baby, and he says that sounds good. Im thinking that I get the ok to use the chair within “moderation” but when morning shift comes in (I work nights) they take my chair when I was doing paperwork and I tell my team lead about it and he lets my head boss know what happened, and he’s not happy about the chair. My team lead relays the message to me and I said yea it’s crazy because they didn’t even ask, and there was another chair in the walk in, and he says that, no he’s not happy about you sitting in the chair. I look at him with a blank stare as he’s telling me that if I made the shots here I would let you have a chair because my wife and I have gone through multiple miscarriages, head boss says that if you want to you can leave we have enough staff. This dickhead didn’t have the balls to tell me straight to my face. I am going to the urgent care today before I go in so I can get a note for light duty, but this whole situation is so messed up. I also tried getting a hold of hr this morning but was sent straight to voicemail.
