I’m Interested in the impacts of technology-driven work and manual work

As said in the title, I'm interested in why people may feel drained in an office environment that may be physically less demanding than other professions that require more physicality. Of course this isn't the majority, but an interesting pattern I see with some people. I've seen people leave good-paying office jobs for physical work, such as in construction, plumbing, HVAC, you name it. They're doing much better emotionally and feeling more fulfilled. They are just some of a few examples of this pattern where, maybe even controlling pay, people will gravitate toward a physically imposing job compared to an office job. Thoughts?
