I had to call in sick for my shift and anyone who knows me knows I don’t do that unless it’s very necessary.
I was progressively feeling worse and worse with classic COVID symptoms so I took a RAT (got a PCR later). It was negative but I felt I had to call in sick anyways. I gave hours of time in advance, more than needed.
Of course my boss is being covered by someone much younger than myself.
Paraphrasing;
Me: Hey (fill in), I’m sorry but I have to call in sick for tonight
Fill: why?
Me: unfortunately I’m feeling very unwell, flu and COVID symptoms. So far I have a negative RAT but..
Fill: you’re paranoid?
Me: No I just know I won’t be able to do my job while I’m feeling this sick
Fill: oh well everybody else is but ok
I don’t know how many times I push myself when I’m sick for that place. This time I needed a fucking break to recover and hello, I work around vulnerable people?? What if the PCR is positive. And if I am negative but have the flu then that’s detrimental too.
I hate this fucking job
