Just want to share the time I took on a seasonal contract in a specialist tourism provider role working with a “mom and pop” style business.
After a month and zero feedback from the owner who I worked alongside exclusively, I asked if he was happy with my work performance.
The reply, “well, I can't fault you for your work, the customers leave really good feedback and reviews on you. You're attentive, on time, excited about the product. But I don't like your personality”.
Proceeds to discuss a former employee who happened to be on the tour that day who is a delightful and chatty woman who interacts with the customers the same casual yet attentive way I do, “she's a hoot.”
The least constructive criticism I've ever encountered, what am I supposed to do with this?
Bonus, later accused me of stealing because instead of eating the provided lunch I would work through my lunch break to make sure everything was running ahead of schedule and take my lunch home with me. The two other workers did the same thing, one took extra food to feed their dogs – they were not confronted.
