Off the chains rant: I volunteer. Many I didn’t stay long enough for supervisors to have a problem with me. I mostly did short volunteer gigs given my chaotic work schedule. I did get some bad reviews on my last one before I left. I volunteered on my only day off. I wasn’t fast enough. What pisses me off is that it is so easy for these places to take my ass for free labor. I apply. Background check. I pass. I go to orientation. I worked with kids, animals, and seniors. Come applying for jobs, and jobs are asking for degrees, experience, licenses, and pay minimum wage. I get rejected and never an interview. Wtf! Oh 3-5 yrs experience with kids. Have a degree in a related field. Have great customer service. Have had a pet and your veterinarian recommendation. I volunteered with the elderly who were runaway risks. I worked without food handling licenses. It’s ridiculous. Free it’s fine. Not free and hoops.
