I’ve worked three food jobs in the past couple years to get my through high school and part of college. I’m done. I’m so fucking sick of food. I wash dishes, I make the food, I serve the food, I wring up the food, I restock the ingredients, I’m forced to remake crappy food if the color looks wrong, I have to clean up all the spills, I get no benefits from it, and I always come home smelling like whatever I made that day.
I don’t want to serve food, I don’t want to make food, I don’t want to clean it up. Leaving strictly retail. I’ve already got tons of experience getting screamed at by customers I know to expect that. But what kind of work would I be doing? I’m assuming mostly register, folding clothes, restocking things. Anything else I’m missing? Can people give me some of their stories about working in retail? Like I said I’m expecting it be shitty in its own way but I’d like to be prepared on what to expect. Thanks!
