I’m real tired of being told to think for myself without any training

I’ve work in retail for a while. And I’ve noticed they’re big on “thinking for yourself”. That’s all well and good, I’m all for not having to baby employees. YET THEY NEVER TRAIN ME FULLY. I recently got a new job and people are getting mad at me because I don’t do certain things, yet I’ve only worked here for like 9 days and 2 of those were training days, with like maybe an hour of training each time. So idk if that counts or not. This is the worst it has ever been. My point is that I can’t think for myself if I have no idea what I’m doing. If it seems like you’re having to hold my hand that’s because I was never taught to walk. And that’s YOUR fault, not mine. I need to do better about being blunt and clear, “you have no right to…

I need to do better about being blunt and clear, “you have no right to get upset with me because I was never trained to do this.”

Another gripe I have is that they never ask for help. Apparently, when I was doing stock they got mad that they were overwhelmed with customers and I didn’t help. It’s not, nor will it ever be my job to know when a coworker needs help. It’s their job to ask. And we have radios! Idk what that coworker can handle. There’s been loads of times where I was completely overwhelmed but still was able to handle it. Also, there’s only so many registers and every time I came up there they were all full. So help how?

Also before people start saying I need a new job, I do. But money is tight, I’m a part time college student, and this is the most money I’ve ever made by a decent margin. I would like some advice on how to clearly and bluntly stand up for myself, while still being professional.
