I’m sick of companies not telling me I didn’t get the job

Current college student and I applied to this one internship I really wanted. I made it to the second stage and had ONE week to do this really demanding task for them. This was during my midterms so I was stressed out but I really wanted it and gave it my all. I sent them back the task and then just crickets. Three days later I found out through Linkedin they hired someone else at my university. I was so upset not even because of the task but because they never emailed me to tell me I didn’t get the job.

Flash forward now, I’ve been struggling to find an on-campus job. I interviewed for this one job that I had a lot of experience in and the employer said she’d be in touch. I was really happy with the interview and they said they’d let me know in a week if we got the position. Flashforward to today (the last day to hear back) and crickets.

I understand I may have not been the perfect candidate for either position. I’m not mad about that. I’m mad that some companies don’t even have the decency to tell you you didn’t get a position and just leave you wondering and stressed out for days. I’m also just under a lot of stress because I don’t talk to my family (I’m an independent student) and am burning a serious hole into my savings.
