I used to feel guilty about not doing my absolute best at everything. But doing a lot of work is never rewarded. One is only punished for their efforts with more work or manipulation to make you produce more. Then when you're completely burned out you're thrown away like a used tissue and another, fresher one, is drawn from the populus for the exploiter class to blow boogers into and misuse until it falls apart.
20 years of having to work should be more than enough to retire for everyone. But the retirement age keeps going up while, as if by some coincidence, the average life expectancy keeps going down.
