I’m worried my previous employer won’t send me my W2

From November-May 2022 I worked for a privately owned child care center. I have never worked for a more emotionally abusive and manipulative organization. When I secured a new job I gave almost zero notice because I was afraid of retaliation from the director or owner. I simply told the owner of my resignation on my last day and submitted a letter of resignation to her via email after the conversation. Today I had a conversation with one of my old coworkers who is still working there and I mentioned not getting my W2 yet. She told me how a previous employee had her W2 held until she physically came in to get it. I know they have until January 31st. I’d prefer not to contact them but know that’s not a guarantee if it doesn’t arrive in the mail. How long should I wait before I reach out? And…
