Imagine if your job was to sit in zoom meetings waiting for your boss to ask you to click to the next PowerPoint slide.

My company doesn't do this. If someone is presenting a PowerPoint then they're the one screen sharing and controlling the slides. If we couldn't do that for some reason, well luckily Zoom let's you share slide controls so a presenter could control the slides that someone else is sharing. We have been working with some other companies recently and time and again, every single time we're treated to a power point by another company, they have this absurdity.

They'll have some poor worker we've never met and never work with afterwards whose sole job is to sit in the meeting and click their mouse when the presenter says “next slide please.” It never goes smoothly either; sometimes they advance slides early and others they seem to be afk while the presenter repeatedly asks and we all silently cringe.

Is this the newest bullshit prestige position? Are we supposed to more favorably judge these managers the more PowerPoint minions they have? They're too important to click a mouse or share their own screen? Truly I want to know the thinking here.
