For background: My pregnant wife (28F) has been out of work for the last 8 months after getting fired from her nursing job and I am not currently employed (trying to start a career as a famous twitch streamer). My wife has been through several rounds of interviews but can’t seem to get hired, which is causing a serious strain in our relationship. She is on unemployment benefits which brings in ~$1650/month for us. Most of that money goes to paying rent and paying down the cc debt I accumulated purchasing streaming equipment for my twitch career. As of right now, I do not have any subs or donors on twitch but I’m hoping to start making $250-$400/month while streaming.
Every month, it seems like we fall into deeper and deeper debt with no end in sight. She complains everyday that I need to find a “real job” and is very unsupportive of my twitch streaming aspirations. I have thought about asking my neighbor if I can mow her lawn once per week for $100 (it’s a smaller lawn and would only take me 15-20 minutes to mow). Sorry for the rant, but I don’t know how to escape this lifestyle without giving up on my dream career.
What are some hustles/gigs you guys have picked up to make ends meet? Need all the advice I can get so hopefully my wife will become motivated to help out with finances.
