Increasing wages doesn’t always help

So minimum wage went up where I live, which seems like good news. The company I work for – which pays like absolutely crap and treats us near-abusively (which sums up most companies I work for or have known other people to work for by a huge margin) – does pay time and a half on Sundays, and that’s the ONLY thing that’s kept me afloat, at all, barely. I get a big shift every Sunday that saves me from homelessness basically. And the SECOND – and I mean blatantly shamelessly to an almost comedic degree – the MILLISECOND minimum wage went up? They ripped time and a half on Sundays away that very exact same moment. And I did the math, I’m actually making less a week now. This is also a grocery store that is jacking up prices lately like you wouldn’t even believe – they’ve nearly doubled a lot of the prices, have hired no new people and left us severely understaffed, haven’t given one single raise out, or invested any capital back into the buildings we work in that barely have running toilets – and they brag constantly about how great to their employees they are.

These corporate scum will continue to figure out exactly how to screw us out of a way to make a decent living time and time and time again, no matter what we do. These pathetic little insects who actually have themselves convinced they’re the standards of human success we should all aspire to. This is all one big joke.
