I've just applied for a warehousing job, it's through a recruitment agency and I think it's actually a Labour Hire firm, not a recruiting agency, so they don't get me a job, I just work for them and they send me to whereever. That was not described in the job description where I initially applied.
I've just been sent what was probably an automated email asking me to sign some documents to move on with the documentation. Reading through the document, they want me to provide information about who I live with and where they have travelled, if they have been sick recently etc for covid purposes, asking for my bank details, tax information, information for a police check, they also want me to email them 4 pieces of ID (license, bank card, birth certificate, proof of vaccination).
There are some pages that have questions that are related to the job, like a short quiz about things to do with safety, asking about my references, but the rest of it, all the identifying stuff is ridiculous considering this is the first point of contact, there has not been an interview or anything. I'd expect to submit that information and documents once I've actually effectively gotten the job.
But I think what it is is that they don't care if I'm any good or not, there won't be an interview with them, they will hire me straight away which explains them asking for all the extra information and then maybe I'll be sent off to an employer. But it seems real dishonest and not genuine at all. Especially when I specifically applied for a specific job, not to work for a Labour Hire company.
