I live in a major metropolitan city and supervisor jobs in my field do not come around often so I keep my ear to the ground. When the head of HR at this company contacted me about interviewing for a job there in a senior position I said, I would at least give it a shot. I went earlier this week and had a good interview with the bosses and they told me they wanted to offer me a job and so I just asked what the salary range was for the position and I was kind of taken aback for two reasons.
The first is it’s significantly less what I’m making now for a similar position and the second is that I remember applying and interviewing for the supervisory position back in 2019 and the salary offer has not changed 1 cent from what I was offered the first time. It’s infuriating that in almost 5 years wages offered have not gone up to compensate for things like inflation. Moreover, those wages are more akin to what a starting salary in my field should be.
How should I reject them to make them feel really bad about what they’re offering? I’m considering calling their current supervisor, and telling him exactly what I make in my role and making him agitate to get a raise.
