There has been X months since the layoff and now you are hiring. What has changed about the company, it's finances or the organization's hierarchy since the layoff?
-
Was the role I am currently interviewing for part of that layoff? If yes, why was it eliminated then if you are hiring for it now?
If a company tries to dodge the questions, you are being hired for a temp position. It won't be called that but when it comes time for the next round, know that your head is already in the noose. That uncertainty should result in a higher, not lower, salary.
If these companies are going to use mass layoffs to manage the bottom line, hold them accountable.
