I do IT as my career and often get reached out by recruiters. I used to be “yes sir/maam”, because I wasn't sure how much I was worth so I didn't know how much I should ask for pay. I am by NYC area and they passed the bill where employers need to be transparent about pay and now recruiters tend to be funny about it.
Earlier today I was contacted by a recruiter and he told me the firm is a Leading Global firm. I asked him how much the pay was and he came back with. “what are you asking for since the range is broad”.I replied with “$110k?” and dude come back with “thats Very high!!, how about $90K a year?!”. and then he calls me right after that email he sent and said “well, would you do $85?”. Then I told him off that even though its not him that might not be putting the price out there, they shouldnt be boasting around being a “leading global firm”, if theyre not going to pay better especially in this day and economy and for the position he was asking to be filled. Also no one cares if a company is a “leader” at anything. Just pay up.
Surprisingly, he wants to do a formal zoom interview tomorrow. LOL
