Interviewed for a manager position at my job…

So I work in health care as a nurse, and an internal position opened up. So, I applied and was interviewed. They asked the array of standard questions but then asked “we use these metrics but I feel like we are missing out on data that we could use what are some other metrics we could make use of?” I suggested a simple metric that could be used, the interviewer said “I really like that.” No more than 5 minutes later they said “I have a great idea of a metric we can use” and spouted my idea right back at me and then stated “if you ever have an idea that will help, even if you aren't given the job you should tell us.” What the fuck… why would I give you an idea when you are just going to steal it and claim credit.
