Hey all, just wanted to get an opinion real fast. My GF currently works at a fast food joint making $16/hr which is the cap out there. She wants to move more into restaurant work, she enjoys food service in general. She applied at a local Applebee's and they wanted to pay her $14/hr to “test out” as a line cook. She is more interested in the manager aspect and has experience, around 9 years managing a McDonalds. I told her never to take a position that pays you less than what you currently make no matter what, as you would be climbing down the corporate ladder and not up. She says that she was taught that you have to start out with crap wages and “earn your spot” but that seems incredibly old world to me. She asked for $16/hr at that position and they said no, so she passed, but she feels bad. Am I leading her in the wrong direction? Could use some opinions here, thanks!
