Training period is 8 weeks, and there is a strict NO time off policy for this period. This means not even 1-2 hours for a pre-scheduled doctor's appointment. I don't mean there's no PTO, I mean they literally won't approve the time off (I guess you just…get fired for going to the doctor?)
I had to decline the job offer because this is unreasonable to me. I have a kid with epilepsy who has routine doctor's appointments. This has never been an issue at my current job, as I just come in like 2 hours late about once a month, no big deal.
The thing is, I probably could push off appointments and make it work somehow, but it's more of the red flag aspect of it. I feel this policy is totally unreasonable and signals to me that they have no respect for work-life balance.
What do you guys think? Is it common for jobs to not allow you to take off for a doctor's appointment for the first 8 weeks?
