Is my dad being underpaid?

I (25M) live with my dad, my mom, brother (23), and sister (16) in a house we've lived in for 20 years. My dad's been struggling to pay for bills for years due to my mother's unhealthy shopping habits, but now it's getting really worse for him, so now I'm starting to believe that maybe it's not too much of our spending, but due to high billing. My dad works as a system administrator Cal Tech. He's been working as a system administrator for 20+ years and has been making $50/hr. consistently the past decade or 100,000 a year.

My dad says he asked his job for a raise, and only got $300 more every month. That's still not enough and he now has to take out a loan and ask for help from me and my brother.

My brother and I are trying to become independent, but due to the economy it's still rather difficult. I make $28.85/hr. work a hellish 90 minute commute as a draftsman. My brother makes $40,000 a year as an accountant and works at home.

I feel like we shouldn't be struggling. It could be due to inflation and California.
