Is my work violating some sort of workers rights?

Hey everyone, I work at a subway in California. It's my first job, but the way they do things seem so weird. Firstly, I don't get any tips. It's a rule made by the owner that during training I don't get tips. Everyone I've said this to has reacted poorly, so I'm guessing it's not very common. Secondly, shes eating where we prepare food, going for a cigarette break every 10 minutes, and staying clocked in while she goes and hangs out with the owners of other restaurants near us. While she does all of this, I don't get a single break my whole 4 hour shift. She doesn't really do anything at all, she doesn't even show me what I'm doing wrong most of the time and does it herself. I dont know how I'm supposed to learn and work with her if she isn't teaching me anything. I…
