Is the US job market getting even worse?

I've noticed this year that the job market does not have as many open positions as before. This may just be my own anecdote, so tell me what you think. I do not think this is because everyone and their mother found a job, I think businesses are cutting jobs and suppressing wages again. Consumer prices have not deflated nor has the rent or housing markets. Upward mobility in this country must be negative meaning that more people are slipping into poverty than are becoming middle class. Capitalism punishes the working class in boom and bust times, the rich will always find a way to profit.
