I am interviewing for a director gig with a major college and have been through six rounds so far, Including submitting a written exercise and sample of my work. This morning I was scheduled for an 8am Zoom meeting with the hope this would be my final meeting. At 7am, the HR contact begins emailing me, not calling or texting, asking me “where I am?” I don’t have a 7am meeting invite from them. Not a Zoom invite. I call this person, after several a rings they pick up, and they inform me the meeting will have to be put off until next year now. I am having to relocate across country for this gig. Delaying their decision two weeks is a major upset to all our plans. And this person then spent the rest of the call asking me why her email for this meeting didn’t arrive. She proceeds to send me a copy of her invite, it’s a screenshot from her calendar, not the actual invite. Anyway, I have my scheduled 8pm meeting, the one that was properly confirmed, and it goes great. The person I interviewed with even acknowledged that this was their screw up. I guess for me, is this whole thing a red flag – a potential colleague is already trying to gaslight out of a mistake she made. And how does this make me look? It’s actually a gig I want and the gig is doing some great work.
