I work at a standalone restaurant, and all of the staff gets paid $10 an hour. The owner is also the manager. Every single time an employee makes a mistake, or is late, they bring up the fact that “because of tips” We are basically paid $16 an hour. I have always found the statement to be pretty immoral and annoying. Like, tips are not guaranteed, and it feels like they are dangling our wages in front of our faces… I hate capitalism.
