Is “workforce management” code for micromanagement?

My company recently implemented a workforce management group at my remote call center and all that has happened since is extreme micromanaging. One of my colleagues asked if they could have the same lunch time daily to pick up her child from school, the the disgusting WFM head said no, not possible based on “business needs.” Lol so she’s just supposed to leave her child at school? 🤣 “Sorry honey, you’ll have to walk home because of business needs!” If I’m working on a task that is time consuming because a previous agent screwed up bc we’re no longer training people properly I get a message from workforce management about it. Is WFM just code for micromanaging hell?
