I live in Illinois, USA. Perhaps it actually is illegal here since we have a good track record of progressive employment legislation?? But in any case I’m applying for work that pays more than my current position and the vast majority of job applications here ask for your current wage. That feels like it should be privileged information and that they’d use it to drive down wages to the lowest possible rate they can get people to work for. It’s depraved.
