I work at a dealership that has its own garage. I became really good friends with a couple of the mechanics. One of them told me that the service department manager approached him and said “you guys have been doing amazing this past month; it was our most profitable month on record. So don't bring a lunch because we're treating all the mechanics to pizza”.
My friend replied “…how about a raise?”. The service manager said “keep this up for a few months and we'll take a look at a raise”.
So, yea, the service manager had the audacity to essentially say “we made record profits because we don't pay you enough. Enjoy some pizza on us because it's cheaper than a raise”.
