As a current engineering student, engineering is 110% an oversaturated field. I have seen others talk about how Honeywell gets like 100 applications for every engineering job opening. That does not sound like a field that has a shortage of workers.
The vast majority of engineering students do not end up with a good-paying job out of college. Only the best of the best gets them, and those people include those who can get straight As through some of the most difficult classes in college and do a billion projects, research, and clubs on top of that. The vast majority of people cannot do that.
