It really amazes me how many customer-facing businesses will only have one person working there at a time

When I see something like this, my mind immediately goes to 2 places: 1) No one wants to work anymore (Because this business is a horrible place to work) 2) The owner is a penny wise pound foolish dumbass who would rather save the pittance he'd need to pay another employee, even though having two employees could help productivity and boost profits I went to an ice cream place recently where there was a line out the door and a 16 year old kid taking orders, accepting payments, and making the actual ice creams for everyone (They were known for these specialty sundaes that looked like they took forever to make). The dude was clearly overwhelmed and was sweating his ass off, so I made sure to hand him a tip as I left. I also wondered where the owner was. Something tells me they were either in the back…

I also wondered where the owner was. Something tells me they were either in the back with their office door closed, or off doing who knows what because they treated their business like a passive income rather than something you need to come in and do work at.
