Both my parents are nurses working at a City run nursing home. They both work 50-60 hours a week and barely have time to take care of themselves. The province has capped their wage increase far below the inflation level and it looks like the banks are going to increase the interest rates on their properties. Almost 1/3rd of their tenants aren’t paying rent and there’s currently a ban on eviction where we live. They both look miserable and are barely above the water. My dad started cycling to save on gas and my mom is resorting to buying only the bare necessity. They still manage to give me and my sister a decent lifestyle somehow. I hate this system.
