It’s the audacity…

I’m sure we’re all experiencing our middle management throw out some words here and there that if only we all worked in the office together things would be better, right? As if it’s small clues that our large corpos are trying to think of ways to somehow get over 75% of us WFH force back into an office in the next couple of years so they can truly monitor our productivity. Gross, truly. I’m doing all of the same work and even more so in the comfort of own apartment. Well, because we all WFH we are told how important it is to be a team and get on camera for virtual meetings, as well as communicate with one another on teams. “Be responsive and help your peers!

Answer your manger back in a timely manner!”

Now it’s being thrown around in our office that being on Teams instead of calls is considered “idle” time. That if we do anything rather than answer a question, it is to be considered call avoidance. Looks like checking in with your peers on how their day is going is now a no no. Let’s be real, our jobs are tough and we do all work hard. Most of us are not on teams chat for 30 minutes at a time and just chatting all day. We all have shit to do. But a random conversation to break the brain fog helps tremendously. It would be no different in an office. I honestly think they want to disable the chat feature in its entirety in the hopes to continue to take away anything that is not being on phone as it is a “distraction” seeing as how they cannot control what we are doing while not being in the office.

It’s just wild to me because you preach for us to be a team and connecting BECAUSE we WFH and now that is the opposite. Corpos must be trying any and everything to micro manage to the minute detail while they try to figure out a faster plan to get almost their entire workforce across the US into an office.

Of course, there are some more obvious changes and fixes that NEED to be dealt with on their end to boost profits, but those continue to be ignored up the chain and not seem as important. So their hot fix to boost profits? Make no one be able to community with anyone in the office while being alone at home.

Typical power corpo move to me. Not address any actual issues that the little guys chant are what causing the most in profit loss. Instead, let’s take away every small joy our already burnt out employees may have in the hopes that they become human AI. Let’s monitor their every move!!!!! So you can monitor our every move but can’t listen to the concerns all 10 thousand employees continue to relay to you? Nice.
