I work retail, not going to say where, but it’s a craft store and we’ve been slammed packed busy every day now for two weeks because of the seasonal sales. I got my vacation time in sept. and didn’t want to use it immediately and didn’t want to use it in October because I had a lot of medical stuff happening and didn’t want to be on vacation during that. I tried to use some vacation time at the beginning of the month and have been denied it twice and told that I won’t be allowed to use it until after December because of the holidays. Well I was really wanting to use it because the holidays are so bad I need a mental break but instead I’m now working a lot more hours and being run to exhaustion because my
manager still hasn’t hired all of the seasonal staff yet. And now I can’t take the vacation I worked for and won’t be able to take it on my birthday because that’s when we do inventory. And I just don’t see the point in working at a place that won’t allow me to live outside of the job. The only issue is it pays like insanely good and I don’t think I’ll ever find a job that pays this well again
