I’ve made this argument to my right-wing dad and my left-wing partner and they both disagree. Where exactly am I wrong?

Basically I believe that minimum wage should be set at the state level, and that the livability of each state’s minimum wage should be in part determined at the federal level. In my view, a $20H wage is livable in somewhere like Georgia or Oklahoma, but absolutely not livable in the northeast or west coast.
