To clarify, I am a professional cleaner. I worked for this company May-Aug, but quit mid august after my dad passed away on Aug 9th.
I’ve had issues with this job prior to this incident. First issue that pissed me off was us receiving a base pay and an incentive pay. After a 90 day probation period we receive a $2 increase. My issue with this is that the base pay and incentive pay are separate checks. So each paystub gets taxed.
The current issue is a new policy they added. This policy is a mandatory 30min lunch break. Except with this cleaning job, we have zero down time except when we are driving to each cleaning job. Some of these jobs are 3mins away, others can be 30-40mins away from each other.
So, since I’ve been working there, they have been deducting (or adding) a 30min lunch break every day I’ve worked without my knowing (until yesterday). Yesterday I mentioned this to the manager and she told me about the change, printed the paper for me to sign, and after reading it I refused.
I am not sure when they begin this new policy because i was never informed, but i never signed it when I started working there again.
Sad thing is, I picked this job not only for guaranteed work, but also it being a small local company (they have 2 offices in the area) I refuse to work for the man and this incident put a fire under my ass to start my own cleaning business.
Also. They charge us $6 per paycheck to wash our TWO uniforms at the office (apparently Covid related but Covid is basically gone at this point. we don’t even wear masks at the places we clean)
These uniforms THAT ARE NOT Efficient and do not fit properly.
