I worked at my first job post-college for a year and hated it the vast majority of the time. It was mostly Boomers, mandatory “fun” like Spirit Day and Compliance Week (), and I was only making $20/hour. They harassed me the whole time I had COVID, wouldn't let anyone but one guy WFH and then gave him another day at home when he got promoted, and punished me when I did WFH one day (boss was on PTO and told me to just watch training videos for 8 hours) despite getting everything done very well. Then they decided to quiet promote me (gave me my coworker's work, plus mine and wanted me to train a new person.) So I left at the end of last year.
It's been a rough past few months with chronic health issues and no insurance or income. But today I got an offer for nearly 20k more and it's hybrid. Plus I'm actually excited for the job itself and got along swimmingly with the bosses. I am beyond grateful.
I know most people can't just quit their jobs without a backup plan. But my mental health was suffering and I just had to do it.
Look out for yourselves and don't be afraid to job hop. The grass can definitely be greener.
