We are living paycheck to paycheck. They screwed up my w4 form last year, and now I owe the IRS 3K (I should have noticed. I feel stupid). Upon other major life changes and financial hardships.
Coworker was denied a raise. After she requested it, everybody in the company was given a 50c raise, instead. Not even bothering to match what coworker requested.
She made it clear that she needs more to make the bills, but also that she is the strongest member on the team. She literally does other people's (and managers) jobs because she's just like that.
They still denied her.
Weeks later, they told her privately, “we recognize your hard work… so we want to give you a bonus of 1,200$. But it's going into your profit sharing.” But it gets better.
The next day, we find out that EVERYBODY got “bonuses” sent to our profit sharing accounts. They weren't recognizing her. They were lying to try to keep her happy, because they feel like she's going to quit.
“Can you cut us a check instead? We could really use the money.”
“No.”
Sweet. Money we can't touch, and money we will lose when we quit.
She has decided to join me on the bare minimum train. Toot toot.
Are we wrong to be mad?
