My partner and I work from home in the same call centre job. He's clocked on today and went to check his evaluations (they review our calls randomly to check we're meeting requirements which already are ridiculous), and now it shows our screen. the entire screen. they're recording our laptop and didn't give us any warning or let us know, and now we can't do anything without the risk of employers seeing it. it's not like we're doing anything NSFW or wrong on there, but we vent through group google messages or rant in the notepad about racist abusive customers on call, and now we can't do anything except answer calls notes answer calls notes.
feels like a massive invasion of privacy in an already shitty job, I'm sure it's legal and lots of places do it but feeling an awful lot like 1984 rn……
