My current job position at Dunkin Donuts has been having me contemplating a seemingly multi layered societal/life/existential question. I don't know what that question is specifically, aside from what do you think the true nature of the supposed labor shortage is?
I've never been a manager, but have been denied the simplest of jobs and admittedly tweaked my blue collar resume to for my job search needs.
I NEVER used to have such trouble finding a job, even with a recent record. Pre Cword. I'm talking literally all the way up to 2019. I was in addiction and just didn't keep jobs for long.
Fast forward to present day with still current enough convictions .. I cannot land jobs but everywhere is so desperate supposedly and short staffed my I know at my Dunkin and other Dunkin's we are. Dunkin is also not known for decent and progressive pay like the rest that have been catching up.
I guess I'm just asking for input like.. so you think it was the balancing out of the Cword deaths? People finding a way to start their own businesses? Are there some states that are truly more reliant on stimulus checks now? More chaij businesses are being built in my area that pay more also but..with the cost of college and people on the past not having a good job hunt post grad or anything.. all these factors make me wonder but I don't fully understand the job market and economics.
All I know is stated above and the fact that 10-15 years ago hirers were not keen on training new people to the industry and they seem way less willing to train now.
