While there are many sectors of the work force being met with layoffs amid the recession, there still remains very large and very important industries that are struggling to hire new workers.
For example, in my home province of British Columbia, the roadworks construction industry has a labour shortage of 50,000 workers and companies are struggling to meet demands.
These are jobs that pay very well with no certification requirements, and many industry leaders are raising wages to attract new workers. If you choose to go the red seal route and learn a specialized trade, your schooling will be paid for and your wage within the first year of work could be 35$ an hour or more depending on the trade in question.
While I know this probably isn't the place to post this and I might be met with hate for promoting work (crazy idea right?), this is a very important industry that is on the decline for no other reason than people just don't like the work.
If you're reading this and you're fed up with working dead end jobs for shit pay, I strongly encourage you to apply yourself and look into getting a trade under your belt. It benefits not only yourself, but your community and the economy as a whole.
Thanks for reading and get to work!
