Someone complained about missing a restaurant that went out of business during the Rona on a Facebook page for people in my hometown. I mentioned they had exploited an international student by having her work more hours than permitted by her visa and paid her under the table. I had 2 people react with the laughing face. I edited my comment to tell those people to get stuffed, that her university had found out and she might have been deported. Someone replied and said they had bad news about a lot of popular restaurants in our town, that they had paid her under the table. I fired back that if businesses can’t treat their employees right they don’t deserve to be open and that just because she had accepted it didn’t make it right. If a place is popular? Great. Make the prices enough that they can do the right thing.
My hometown is in the Midwest, in a red state to boot. Here we go…..
