I’ve been at a new job for the past few weeks. Checked my paychecks and found that I’ve been recorded as taking 60 min breaks when they’ve only been 30 mins. There’s no way to log breaks as the managers are supposed to do it. I don’t think it’s them as they have no incentive to lie. I believe it’s the owner who changes it. I Have also been at a lower pay rate for some shifts than what was told and in the contract too I believe. The owner 100% controls payroll. Checked with a few other guys and they had the same thing happen to them. Nobody found out all these years cause I suppose you have to navigate a bit on the website portal to look at your pay stubs. There’s a bit over 200 employees and they’ve been in business for 15 years. It’s mostly college kids working this job, I am a bit older, so I don’t really think many of them will get as riled up as those of us who have been screwed many times before. I will want to document more proof before I do anything. What lawyers would handle something like this and what type of outcome can I except if anyone is familiar with cases like this?
