Hey guys, so I just got the boot from my job for ordering Hogwarts Legacy. I know, I know – JK Rowling is really transphobic and it's messed up that I supported her by buying this game. But I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, and when I saw the game was coming out, I just couldn't resist. I didn't even think about the consequences of my actions until it was too late.
I get it, my actions might have been inappropriate and my employer had the right to fire me, but it feels so unfair. I mean, I didn't even get a warning or anything, just straight to the firing.
It's a tough pill to swallow, but I'm hoping that by sharing my story, it'll make others think twice before blindly supporting someone with such harmful views. I mean, I get it – Harry Potter was a huge part of my childhood and it's hard to let go of that nostalgia. But at the end of the day, we gotta hold people accountable for their actions, even if it's someone we loved reading about as kids.
I'm currently jobless and feeling pretty down, but I hope this will be a wakeup call for me and others to be more mindful of the impact our actions have. I just wish it didn't have to cost me my job
