So, I have been out of college since 2021. I've been helping my family get things ready to move, which is going to be a huge undertaking. In the mean time, I've been looking for places to work around here.
I have a degree in business administration. I just need a job in the interim until I figure out where I'm going in the longer term. So I go on Indeed and find this place. I applied to a little store that mostly focuses on tourists in the downtown of where I'm from. Its a simple job doing retail, with the only requirement being a highschool diploma.
So I check my email today, and I got a message back, it said:
Hi [Name redacted]. I'm going to decline your application because this job has nothing to do with your college degree. Best of luck.
The baseline requirement was a high school diploma. So…..I think I just got rejected because I was over their requirements. My sister said that it was probably because they didn't want to pay me what i am worth. But like…..I was gonna go with their given salary range (Ask for $14 or 15/hr).
But ain't that just fascinating.
